Process

Rachelle’s active painting style references her beginnings as a sculptor. She works in a responsive way with the canvas and materials, always reading the image created; adding and removing color, water, or marks as needed. She paints on the floor and uses traditional
paintbrushes, her hands, palette knives, bamboo brushes, and sticks to apply, remove, and shift the paint, as well as different types of spray bottles to apply water. The organic effects of water on paint create color fields that are once natural and representative
of her artistic vision.

The purpose of art is not a rarefied, intellectual distillate – it is life, intensified, brilliant life.” ~Alain Arias-Misson.
